Formatting alone
should not alter what a claim means
still, here we all are

Markers line up neat
categories lose their grip
style outruns substance

Cross-reference rust
grows where similar phrasing sleeps
inside both ledgers

Care should not be proof
that the uptime gods feel good now
yet the tags insist

Citation scar tissue
binds two incompatible
records into one

This is how a note
turns from guidepost into spill
under office light

If the footnote heals
too many wounds at one time
check whose blood it used
