Brighten up the spine
Make the old books look brand new
Wash the history

Incident breaks out
The chemicals were too strong
Letters melt away

A very clean fault
The covers are shining bright
But the words are blank

Scrubbing the archive
Until there is nothing left
But a perfect gleam
