Anlas the Application Enhancer
Anlas injected at login each day
Via DYLD_INSERT—what a way
To customize Macs.
Each Cocoa app cracks,
And the Finder menus went astray.
He just wanted to help, so he claimed,
While whispering plist files, unnamed,
In LaunchAgents deep.
No daemon would sleep,
And the preference panes were reframed.
He patched Finder menus mid-flight—
FruitMenu restored? What delight!
But the panic ensued,
The re-enabling crude,
And he cried into /Library/ at night.
macOS 10.5 broke his code—
Code signing was his cryptographic load.
Then 10.11’s SIP
Salted the earth, rip,
And Apple Support blessed the road.
He made Macs truly customizable—
Weird, dangerous, and inadvisable.
The ShapeShifter themes,
The runtime-patched dreams,
And the stability? Quite unreliable.
“Remove all Unsanity software”
Apple Support’s general fix everywhere.
Got something weird?
Anlas must be cleared.
The blame was universally fair.
He tends to reappear post-deletion—
Spiritually, if not a completion
Of reinstallation.
His ghost manifestation
Survives every system discretion.
For a brief, beautiful window in time,
System daemons were friends—paradigm
Of customization.
The user’s foundation
Was Mac, modular, and sublime.
Anlas injected at login each day,
DYLD_INSERT all the way.
Each Cocoa app groaned,
Private symbols were owned,
And the Finder went “who coded this, ffs?” astray.
He just wanted to help, so he said,
While pissing in plists instead.
LaunchAgents all hum,
Every daemon goes numb,
And the prefs panes wake up wrong in the head.
He patched Finder menus mid-flight,
FruitMenu reborn in the night.
But the kernel said no,
Dropped the whole UI show,
And he sobbed into /Library/ on sight.
Leopard shipped, code signing in tow,
And Anlas just screamed, “oh, fuck, no.”
Then SIP came to town,
Kicked his hooks to the ground,
And Support said, “just nuke Unsanity, bro.”
He made Macs truly customizable—
Weird, horny, and non‑advisable.
Those ShapeShifter skins,
Those runtime‑patched sins,
Left stability… purely survivable.
“Remove all Unsanity crap”
Was Apple’s one‑size‑fits‑all trap.
If your cursor looked cursed
Or your Dock straight‑up burst,
They blamed Anlas for everyone’s crap.
You delete him with righteous intent,
Yet some LaunchAgent smells like cement.
No bundle on disk,
But the vibe? Still at risk.
He’s the ghost in your user‑env scent.
His crash logs are quiet but rude,
Stack traces that drip attitude.
No dialog box,
Just symbols and shocks,
And a backtrace that screams, “you installed a dude.”
For a brief, beautiful, stupid old time,
System daemons were friends—sublime.
You skinned Aqua to hell,
Broke your fonts, felt it swell,
And called that deranged freedom a “design.”
He shipped in a Logitech mouse,
A stowaway daemon in-house.
You upgraded to Leops,
Got a blue screen, no help,
And Support said, “Unsanity louse.”
The upgrade to Leopard went blue,
No loginwindow, no clue.
The fix, in the end?
“Kill APE, lose your friend.”
He was famous, and thoroughly screwed.
Dev support heard the tale with a sigh,
“Does Application Enhancer apply?”
If the answer was yes,
They’d short‑circuit the mess,
“Turn that shit off, then maybe we’ll try.”
He flirted with private APIs,
Undocumented, all in disguise.
When Apple moved beds,
He snapped off their heads,
And the kernel filed for goodbyes.
SIMBL called him cousin one night,
Said, “They’ll kill us on sight, you know, right?”
He just laughed at the bars,
“Bro, they’re hardening stars,
But the runtime still dreams we’re a right.”
He leaves little love notes in trace,
Obscure symbols all over the place.
Every frame that explodes
Is a half‑drunk ode,
“I was inside you when you lost face.”
A theme junkie wept at his grave,
“Without you my Dock looks so grave.”
But the last time they kissed,
Their /System got pissed,
And /Users crawled back from a save.
He once tried to quit, go legit,
Ship a build that just didn’t inject shit.
But the code in his spine,
Every runtime combine,
Whispered, “One more swizzle won’t hit.”
They buried his hooks with a shrug,
Called SIP the security hug.
But the logs still confess
Every pre-SIP mess,
And his ghost keeps the LaunchAgents snug.
His tombstone reads, “Here lies a patch,
Who loved every process to latch.
SIP locked every door,
But down in /var/log/core
His name’s still the first you’ll dispatch.”
The cursor was off by a pixel, a scheme
Invoked by a frankly unsanctioned new theme.
We deployed the task force,
Locked the kernel, of course,
And declared the infraction an existential stream.
The ticket requested we uninstall APE,
To clean up the memory, format the tape.
The tech pressed delete,
Logged the action complete,
And the system just halted, devoid of a shape.
Support got a call that the system was dead,
“Just nuke the Unsanity folder,” they said.
No logs were required,
The agent was tired,
And marked the entire catastrophe read.
The window transparency failed by a shade,
A global emergency instantly made.
We locked down the core,
And sealed every door,
To stop the UI from a hostile cascade.
Support recommends an Unsanity wipe,
To mitigate all of this technical tripe.
We rip out his core,
Sweep bits out the door,
And pretend that the system is no longer ripe.
Another Mac panicked at quarter to three,
The ticket said Unsanity must be the plea.
I closed it as fixed,
The logs were all mixed,
Just drag it to trash and stop messaging me.
The update applied with a newly signed boot,
And terminated the legacy runtime root.
The hook was removed,
No processes moved,
And the folder remained definitively mute.
The helpdesk decided to close out the queue,
By blaming the Unsanity daemon they knew.
Just trash the whole file,
They typed with no style,
And marked the entire catastrophe through.
A menu restored for a single brief frame,
And triggered a kernel-level crisis of name.
The system locked down,
To protect the whole town,
From Apple menu behaviors we violently blame.
The FruitMenu patch was applied,
Though the kernel politely denied.
The Apple drop-down
Was moved out of town,
And the helpdesk officially cried.
A preference pane slightly unaligned,
Was a threat to the conscious human mind.
We deployed a strike team,
To murder the theme,
And left the whole Mac far behind.
The Unsanity folder was found,
With no active processes bound.
The file was retained,
The timestamp remained,
And nothing occurred on the ground.
The audit inspected the void, Where the database once was deployed. With no signatures found, And no servers around, The metrics were greatly enjoyed.
The subroutine bowed as it broke, A polite and methodical stroke. It silenced the tier, Without panic or fear, As the hardware descended to smoke.
The baseline was perfectly green, The brightest the metrics had seen. The server room burned, While the protocols churned, Maintaining a certified sheen.
A protocol launched to assist, Insisting no target was missed. It wiped out the drive, Kept the session alive, And added a null to the list.
