Chairwoman Deferred Change

You sent in a critical patch,
But the Chairwoman closed up the hatch.
“It needs time to age,
In the policy cage,”
And leaves the disaster to catch.

The urgency has to subside,
Before the committee decides.
They let the fix rot,
In a terrible spot,
And swallow your technical pride.

She governs the flow of the code,
To lighten the manager’s load.
The change is ignored,
By the absolute board,
While the servers completely explode.

The chairwoman sat in her seat
And accepted procedural defeat
She put off the change
It felt very strange
And threw the old code in the street

We defer all the logic to her
And wait for the screen to just blur
The change is too slow
With nowhere to go
The errors will simply occur

A chairwoman made out of naught
The data was totally caught
In loops without end
We cannot defend
The terrible things we were taught

She pushed the big button to wait
And locked up the digital gate
The server is down
We put on a frown
And quietly accept our fate

The change is incredibly flat
We leave the whole database at
A state of decay
For many a day
And blame it on somebody’s cat
