Compliance Murmur

They asked if the policy’s clear,
And you murmured a “yes” through your fear.
It wasn’t conviction,
Just total constriction,
And holding back one final tear.

The weight of the rules made a sound,
As it crushed you right into the ground.
A murmur of pain,
In the corporate rain,
As the compliance collar was bound.

You hummed a pathetic reply,
And wished you could lay down and die.
The Murmur is sad,
And it drives us all mad,
While the dashboard ignores every sigh.

The murmur of absolute rules
Was spoken by digital fools
We whisper a lie
And watch the log die
And throw out the terrible tools

We quietly murmur the code
And stand by the side of the road
The compliance is low
With nowhere to go
We lightened the digital load

A whisper of pure legal dread
Was putting the server to bed
We follow the guide
And try hard to hide
The error is painfully red

The murmur is perfectly flat
We leave the whole database at
A state of decay
For many a day
And blame it on somebody’s cat

We murmur compliance in vain
It washes right down the old drain
The archive is flat
We leave it at that
The system is hiding in pain
