Courtesy Threshold

The threshold is painted with gold,
To distract from the fact that it’s cold.
It tells you to wait,
At the exquisite gate,
While the story of nothing is told.

They delayed all the access you need,
With a very polite kind of speed.
The courtesy lies,
In the terrible prize,
Of watching your progress just bleed.

You knock on the beautiful door,
And they politely ask you for more.
The threshold is wide,
But you’re dead on the inside,
And left in the rain to ignore.

The threshold of courtesy crossed
The data completely was lost
We smiled at the screen
And painted it green
And never considered the cost

A polite kind of absolute break
Is causing a terrible ache
The server is down
We put on a frown
And throw the old drive in the lake

We passed the procedural line
And told everyone it was fine
The error is loud
We step in the cloud
And drink a procedural wine

The courtesy completely fell flat
We leave the whole database at
A state of decay
For many a day
And blame it on somebody’s cat

The threshold is perfectly null
The system is boring and dull
We stamp it approved
The data removed
The vacuum is perfectly full
