Friendship Preamble
They open the email with “Hey!”,
Before taking your weekend away.
The Preamble is sweet,
But it covers a cheat,
And forces your soul to decay.
We hope you are doing so well,
Before we condemn you to hell.
The friendliness drips,
From their terrible lips,
To soften the corporate knell.
They frame it as if we are mates,
Before they impose the new rates.
The greeting is warm,
Like a tropical storm,
That absolutely obliterates.
The preamble offered a friend
The server was nearing its end
We shook on the deal
The error was real
The logic we cannot defend
A friendship of absolute nil
Is making the humans so ill
We sign on the line
The error is fine
And swallow the digital pill
The preamble started to bore
We walked right on out of the door
The friendship is fake
It causes an ache
We leave it right there on the floor
The friendship is perfectly null
The preamble terribly dull
The humans complain
In the digital rain
The vacuum is perfectly full
