Ledger Snag
A ledger held truth by the pair—
Both entries were perfectly square.
Neither would bend,
Neither would end,
And neither agreed who was fair.
The merge case was brought to a head:
Two versions, both valid, both fed.
One wanted to stand,
The other to land,
And both swore that one should be dead.
The tribunal suggested solution:
A third truth for their resolution.
But it made it still worse,
A multi-way curse,
And nobody called it absolution.
A ledger locked tight for nineteen days—
Each entry still stubbornly stays.
The clerk gave a sigh,
Filed “both” with a cry,
And walked out to end their malaise.
It stamped both as “VALID” and “SAME,”
Irreconcilable truth is the name.
One wants to be this,
One wants to be miss,
And neither will concede to blame.
A rollback was called for one side—
“No winner!” the ledger replied.
“Both deserve their say,
Both get to stay,
And both get to strut and have pride.”
The arbiter walked with a shrug:
“Accept both, or give them a hug.”
The entries persist,
The merger dismissed,
And truth was just too hard to tug.
No winner emerged from the fray—
Both entries got to firmly stay.
The conflict remains,
The ledger contains
Two rights that won’t fade or decay.
