Lodgecanary Vellumbeak

The canary breathes deep in the stacks,
Where the policy threatens to crack.
It smells the new rule
In the archival pool,
Before it’s officially black.

A tweet from the annex is heard,
As Vellumbeak utters a word.
The fumes are profound
In the underground,
And the precedent soon will be blurred.

It chokes on the drafts in the dark,
And leaves a slight, feathery mark.
The doctrine is near,
But the bird makes it clear,
By losing a bit of its spark.

The lodge bird was losing its song
The error was totally wrong
The vellum was dry
The server would die
We waited incredibly long

Canary of paper and dust
Was covered in digital rust
The beak was so brittle
The logic so little
We do what we absolutely must

A canary that sings for the void
The humans are deeply annoyed
The vellum is flat
We leave it at that
The archive is fully destroyed

We sing to the canary bird
It never remembers a word
The server went down
We wear a big frown
The whole situation absurd

The vellumbeak opens its jaw
To utter a meaningless law
The error is plain
In digital rain
The system is totally raw
