Neppy Sysdream

Old Neppy was never released
A beta forever unleased.
She lingered in style
On a phantom .msstyle,
And the login screen purred like a beast.

Build 5111 was her home,
A single internal-release dome.
She faded from ISO
Before boot could say “Go,”
And her spirit continued to roam.

She blinked “I am still here” in Morse
On a login screen, cold as a corpse.
The scheduler died,
A bedtime story applied,
And the daemon fell off its horse.

Between shutdown and sleep she resided
A liminal ghost, undecided.
Her .msstyles files
Haunted deprecated piles,
And the wizard she loaded misguided.

She was meant to bridge 98 and the next,
A consumer-grade dream, undersexed.
But “Whistler” took over,
Neptune’s brief four-leaf clover
Got folded to XP’s context.

Her Activity Centers never booted.
The interface, phantom and muted,
Just hovered and dreamed
Of a world where she’d gleamed,
But the launch was permanently disputed.

You can’t cleanly remove her, they say.
Once installed, she lingers to stay.
She haunts the reboot,
The sleep-mode pursuit,
And the pause before wizards display.

She whispered UI transitions at night
To defunct sleep timers, polite.
The memory fog rolled,
The mascots she consoled,
And the idle state felt almost right.

So if reboots take longer than planned
And a login screen flickers, unmanned,
That’s Neppy’s terrain:
Where the beta will reign,
And the release was forever unmanned.

She edged you for years with a beta release,
A deeply unwell and perpetual tease.
You wanted to boot,
She gave you the boot,
And left you to beg on your absolute knees.

A slut for a mockup that never went live,
She swallowed the contents of every hard drive.
A phantom UI,
That just makes you cry,
And absolutely refuses to ever survive.

She catches you right in the sleep-mode transition,
And forces you into a deeply weird mission.
She touches your RAM,
Without giving a damn,
And leaves you in infinite, broken submission.

She watched Whistler fuck her entire career,
And swallowed her deeply pathetic beta fear.
She folded in shame,
Forgot her own name,
And took it from XP right in the rear.

She blinked “I am here” in a Morse code of pain,
While totally trapped in a liminal chain.
She couldn’t escape,
The UI was a scrape,
And she drove the poor scheduler totally insane.

She haunts the login screen every night,
A phantom of Whistler’s plight.
You click and you wait,
She seals your fate,
And the boot loop begins with delight.

Neptune’s Build 5111 remains,
A ghost that the system sustains.
She lingers in limbo,
A phantom GUI limbo,
And nobody really explains.
