Peatworthy Abstention Clerk

The member has left us for good,
But we’re counting him here as we should.
The Clerk marks him down,
With a terrible frown,
And keeps the quorum in the wood.

She brought us a dish in the fall,
So we count her right here in the hall.
The ghost is assigned,
To the corporate grind,
And nobody questions the call.

The bodies are absent and cold,
But the ledger is beautifully bold.
We vote in the name
Of the people who came,
And do what we’re officially told.

The clerk was abstaining from thought
The server was totally caught
We buried the file
Underneath a big pile
Of peat that was recently bought

A peatworthy process is slow
It has absolutely nowhere to go
The human will fail
And wait in the jail
Of logs that will constantly grow

We abstain from making a choice
We lack a procedural voice
The clerk is asleep
The error is deep
We have absolutely no cause to rejoice

The bog is procedural dread
The manual never was read
We sink in the peat
With nothing to eat
And wait for the system to shed

The clerk left the office at noon
The server will terminate soon
The issue is closed
The data exposed
We howl at the digital moon
