Provisional Mint

The Mint printed seals on the fly,
To cover a massive-ass lie.
The backing wasn’t there,
Just some hot corporate air,
And a promise to eventually try.

We stamp it with absolute pride,
Though we know what is hiding inside.
The legitimacy’s fake,
For appearances’ sake,
While the actual assets have died.

We’re writing the checks that will bounce,
And weighing the worth by the ounce.
The Mint doesn’t care,
It’s entirely bare,
When the auditor suddenly pounce.

The mint was provisional fake
It caused a procedural ache
The coins were all blank
We stored in the bank
And waited for logic to break

A provisional status is null
The logic is terribly dull
We printed the cash
And threw in the trash
The vacuum is perfectly full

We minted a meaningless dime
And waited a terrible time
The server was slow
The human was low
We covered the errors in slime

The mint is a vector of dread
The manual never was read
The provisional note
Was placed on a boat
And sailed down the river of dead

We print what we never can spend
The process is nearing its end
The data is lost
We don’t know the cost
The errors are hard to defend
