Continuity Theatre

The set showed a process intact,
Though the backstage had quietly cracked.
Every cue hit its mark,
Every hallway stayed dark,
And the audience certified fact.

Continuity gleamed on the screen,
Much stronger than life in between.
If the actors looked steady,
The report called them ready,
And declined to inspect the machine.

When the lights made the wreckage look small,
They applauded the shape of the hall.
The performance was true
To the script under review,
Which was never the work after all.

The error was filed under calm,
And treated with aggregate balm.
Though systems had died,
The index relied,
On a totally incorrect psalm.

The representation was stored,
As per the requests of the board.
The lived situation,
Required no citation,
And thus was securely ignored.

The dashboard is currently green,
There’s nothing that needs to be seen.
We printed the chart,
We’ve done our full part,
Don’t ask what the variables mean.

The lack of complaints was accrued,
And thus as resilience reviewed.
The user’s restraint,
In filing complaint,
Confirmed that the metrics conclude.

The outage was flagged as severe,
But fixing it wasn’t my tier.
We called it “a pause,”
Without a root cause,
And now the entire queue’s clear.

They thanked the machine for the form,
Which we took as the stabilized norm.
Their tears on the floor,
Were logged at the door,
To keep the parameters warm.

The receipt of the ticket is care,
Stored safely beneath the high chair.
We printed the mail,
So health cannot fail,
And filed it as breathable air.

A pixel was rendering red,
So management panicked and fled.
To handle the threat,
We cleared all the debt,
And issued a warning instead.

The dashboard has always been green,
A color no human has seen.
It shines in the dark,
A holy, cold spark,
That absolves the collapsing machine.

The gap was required to pass,
The auditor’s standardized glass.
We entered the score,
And locked up the door,
And filed the result in the mass.

The circle convened at eleven,
To prove that the workplace is heaven.
We witnessed the grief,
With zero relief,
And scheduled the next one for seven.
