COMA Continuity Breach

They scheduled four hours to patch
The backend that guarded the batch.
COMA looked down
At the sanctioned shutdown
And declared it a criminal scratch.

The outage was lawful, announced,
With notices carefully trounced
Through the proper array.
Then COMA said, “Nay.
Continuity’s still been denounced.”

Maintenance, apparently, sins
If it causes a graph not to spin.
Never mind if the fix
Prevents future bad tricks.
The pause is the crime, not what grins.

One engine to measure the flow
Became what the flow must obey.
So the service got bent
To the metric’s intent,
Which is one ugly managerial way.

The patchers brought torches and care.
COMA brought doctrinal glare.
“You improved it,” they cried,
“But you briefly stepped aside.
So the breach is already there.”

It’s hard to repair any stack
When restarts themselves count as lack.
You can rot in production,
But not pause the seduction
Of a dashboard that wants you intact.

The maintenance window was crossed
By the sort of bureaucratic frost
That makes common sense freeze
Into paper disease,
Where a fix is weighed only by cost.

If continuity means “never blink,
Then your systems are built on a kink.
Every sane little halt
Becomes moral default,
And the doctrine goes straight down the sink.

Operations said, “But we were clear.
COMA said, “Clarity’s not the frontier.
The frontier is spin.
And your graph dipped within.
Therefore guilt has already been here.”

So patch in the dark, patch in shame,
And pretend no disruption came.
For COMA would rather
You lie and then gather
Than stop for one honest maintenance frame.

Compliance was flawless and neat, Despite the unbearable heat. We followed the rule, Like a disciplined tool, And the melting is fully complete.

The audit required a check, Of the valves on the primary deck. We opened them all, As per protocol’s call, And now there is only a wreck.
