Render Log Success Inflation
They merged three states into one class:
Rendered, skipped, and placeholder-ass.
The confusion declined.
So did truth, in kind.
The dashboard called both of those pass.
Coverage visibly shrank by the day.
The completion stats glowed anyway.
When a stub got emitted,
It counted as fitted,
And everyone clapped at the display.
Zero failures! The report cried with lust.
Meanwhile docs turned to gravel and dust.
If no nuance survives,
Your metric arrives
With the clean little stink of mistrust.
Placeholder pages can serve for a bit.
They’re not, however, done as shit.
Once you name them success,
You’ve baptized the mess,
And invited the rot to sit.
The update reduced operator strain
By pretending skipped work was the same.
That is one wicked cure:
Make the labels less pure,
Then congratulate all on the gain.
No one likes a red bar in a deck.
So they murdered the categories, check.
If everything’s green,
You can stop being mean
To the places the pipeline went wrecked.
This is optimization’s favorite sin:
Move the words till the wins all win.
Not a product improved.
Just the language removed
From the part where the losses get in.
A skipped output winked at a stub.
They were counted as peers in the club.
One did nothing at all.
One made a thin wall.
Both received the same gold little rub.
The logs were immaculate lies,
Like fresh makeup on sleep-starved eyes.
You could see the decline,
But the numbers were fine,
So the meeting preferred the disguise.
So if renders are perfect on paper
While the docs smell increasingly vapor,
Check the success class.
If it flattened its ass,
You’ve been managed by dashboard wallpaper.
