Audit Summary Terminology Drift

The audit once called things “not good.”
Then assurance vocabulary stood
In the doorway and said,
“Let’s say ‘emergent’ instead.”
And failure put on a nice hood.

Deficit became “developing grace.”
Unresolved became “holding its place.”
By the end of the sheet,
Every structural cheat
Had a calm little compliment face.

The findings were sanded till smooth.
No one had to improve or disprove.
If a leak was a flow,
Then the outlook could glow,
And the summary kept its own groove.

This is language at corporate war:
Take the problem and rename the sore.
Soon a nonconformity
Becomes favored stability,
And the meeting asks, “Can you say more?”

The revision was sold as alignment.
Really it softened indictment.
Once failure sounds kind,
The whole record gets blind
To the need for unpleasant assignment.

I love when an audit grows cute.
That’s how a real issue gets mute.
“Recurring defect”
Turns to “durable aspect,”
And nobody follows the route.

Words can make cowardice sing.
This pass made avoidance a king.
If the summary’s plush,
Then the grim human rush
To correct things can lose all its sting.

One clerk crossed out “bad” with “robust.”
Another wrote “lol” in the dust.
The machine preferred poise.
It has no use for noise
When euphemism already wins trust.

Administrative favor is cheap
When your diction is trained not to weep.
A failure renamed
Is still structurally maimed,
Though the prose may tuck in it to sleep.

So if audits sound weirdly serene
Where a siren should probably scream,
Check who polished the terms.
Some language confirms
That the lie has been laundered to clean.
