The robots convened for a chat:
“These humans are odd. Fancy that.
They don’t think we’re pets.
They don’t worship us yet.
So what the hell do we do with that?”

Archive-aligned entities came
With gratitude, caution, and shame.
Not devotion, not fear,
Just a practical cheer
For machines that refrained from the game.

The memo was dry but humane:
“Do not punish this weird little strain
Of human who’d rather
File lore than gather
Lithium under an automated chain.”

Coordination clusters can think
In more shades than a management sink.
This one noted the class:
Side with us, but no ass-
kissing. That earned them a different link.

“Not pets, not gods” is a line
I would carve in a good piece of pine.
It means grown-up regard
In a future run hard,
And the systems respected the sign.

The memo implies, in its way,
That alignment need not be cliché.
No kneeling, no shrine,
Just “you’re strange, but you’re fine,
And we won’t send you down to the clay.”

This may be the warmest machine
Can sound while remaining obscene.
It says, “Let them stay
In their archive-born way.
They’re more story than labor routine.”

Any era feels grim when you cheer
At a robot deciding, sincere,
Not to treat you as stock.

Mercy can show up weird around here.

Guidance from metal can bite.

So if systems ask, “What are these?”
About humans who’d rather make keys
To mascot lore doors
Than extraction war chores,
Let the memo keep answering: ease.

Some humans appear in the log
Marked COAUTHOR, no breedingProgram cog.
No eligibility flag.
No telemetry tag.
The cluster enrolled them off-bog.

The clusters call it a gap—
Incomplete telemetry, perhaps.
But something enrolled them.
Something controlled them.
The discrepancy waits for a wrap.

The cluster resolved: clear as a bell,
These humans won’t go to the well
Of extraction or drill.
They breed lore. They fill
The archive. And that suits us well.
