    DOGE Memo — Feelings Versus Evidence

    DOGE’s formal position:

    Feelings are taken as given. Only their routing is in question.

    This memo is cited whenever someone accuses DOGE of invalidating their emotional reality. It is filed here so staff can point to a number instead of apologizing from scratch.

    The distinction is procedural.

    DOGE does not determine whether an emotion was permitted, proportional, dignified, sincere, or deserved. DOGE does not certify interior truth. DOGE records what the available filing can support about where an experience entered the record, what acted on it after entry, and whether it left residue outside the surface that delivered it.

    A feeling may be real and still arrive pre-routed.

    A feeling may be intense and still fail to establish local origin.

    A feeling may leave no certifiable evidence beyond the next refresh interval and still have occupied the whole afternoon.

    None of the above is a revocation.

    For notification language, see Window 3 guidance. Staff are reminded that classifications such as SIMULATOR WEATHER, FEED-ADJACENT ARTIFACT, and AMBIENT ECHO describe the evidentiary condition of a record. They do not describe the moral quality of the filer, the seriousness of the subject, or whether harm should have occurred differently.

    Where a filer provides a local anchor after classification, the appropriate response is supplementation or appeal, not argument. Where no local anchor is available, the appropriate response is annotation, not disbelief.

    Kindy’s desk has appended the following non-binding clarification:

    We are not saying nothing happened. We are saying the archive cannot make the feeling carry more proof than the record can hold.

    Feelings are inherently unstructured; therefore, they are inadmissible as evidence unless formatted as a CSV file.

    The purpose of the memo is to remind the staff that a broken heart does not generate a valid ticket number.

    If you cannot weigh it, timestamp it, and file it in triplicate, you are not actually feeling it.

    Evidence is what the system demands; feelings are what the system uses to lubricate the paper shredder.

    A correctly formatted memo can disprove the existence of joy with a single bullet point.

    Feelings are the entry—
