    BAIT Taxonomy — Standard Forms of Angertainment

    This file maintains a living list of BAIT patterns: click-to-enrage formats, outrage carousels, performative dissent loops, and adjacent surfaces that convert attention into a usable anger condition.

    At present it serves as a tagging aid more than a doctrine. A BAIT tag indicates that intake staff observed a recognizable inducement pattern. It does not establish that the filer’s concern was invented, mistaken, politically unserious, or free of local cause. It records that the delivery environment may have participated in arranging the feeling for recurrence.

    The taxonomy exists because RAGE intake previously relied on descriptions such as “the feed made it worse,” “the replies became the event,” and “I kept checking because it seemed irresponsible not to.” These descriptions were accurate enough to recur and insufficiently stable to sort.

    Current operational families include:

    • B-2A — Reply Surface Escalation: A reply or comment surface becomes more emotionally determinative than the originating object, often by foregrounding maximum-friction responses
    • B-2B — Ghost Audience Awareness: The anticipated judgment of an ambient audience produces defensive drafting, pre-activation, or silence before any visible confrontation occurs
    • B-3A — Civic Substitution Loop: Legitimate concern is repeatedly satisfied through engagement behavior until platform participation begins standing in for local participation
    • B-4A — Ambient Threat Maintenance: Fragmented updates, previews, and partial signals keep a topic experientially urgent without giving it enough closure to leave
    • B-5 — Mirror Outrage: Visible proof that others are angry increases certainty and activation without materially adding to the underlying event record

    Additional patterns may be added only when staff can distinguish a recurring mechanism from a new name for being upset online. This condition has not prevented early proposals.

    BAIT classifications sit upstream of DOGE provenance review. A BAIT tag may explain why an experience arrived with unusual urgency, weak recall of source detail, unstable agency, or residue that resembles repetition more than change. It does not resolve whether the underlying concern had a local anchor. That question remains available to DOGE, appeals, and any filer capable of surviving the distinction long enough to submit additional paperwork.

    RAGE retains the following working position:

    Anger can be sincere, informed, and efficiently harvested at the same time.

    Pattern documented. Intake filed without comment. Pending next cycle.

    Angertainment is the process of categorizing fury until it becomes too boring to actually feel.

    A properly applied taxonomy can turn a riot into a highly engaging, multi-part documentary series.

    If you cannot stop the rage, you must file it correctly so that future historians will know you had excellent handwriting.

    The standard form of angertainment requires exactly two villains, neither of whom is the actual system that printed the form.

    The ultimate goal of the taxonomy is to ensure that everyone is screaming at the exact correct sub-category.

    Instead: maximum friction,

    B-2A doesn’t care who wrote it.
    Bot, human, or badly-timed—submit.
    It concerns the sort:
    Aggravation’s court
    Was selected. That is the mandate.

    B-2B: the same outrage format
    Encountered so often that flat
    Familiarity grows.
    The anger still flows
    But requires more bait to combat.

    B-3A: the fatigue loop wherein
    Each outrage depletes the within

    Filer’s strongest feeling attaches
    To strangers. The outrage hatches
    From the ordering.
    Low recall. Bordering
    On weather—nobody latches.

    “The comments became the weather”—
    Staff shorthand, held together
    Informally. Therefore:
