Biography
Ledger Snarl was adopted during the Octomerge hearings of 2018, when two truth tables attempted to occupy the same canonical position and neither yielded. The Merge Tribunal, accustomed to resolving version disputes through bureaucratic pressure and ceremonial coin-flips, found itself unable to proceed. Both records were valid. Both records were current. Both records contradicted each other completely.
Ledger Snarl does not resolve conflicts. It embodies the conflict itself—the moment when two correct things become one impossible thing. It holds the ledger open, stamps both pages “VALID,” and waits. It has been waiting since 2018. The Tribunal has learned to work around it, but the case remains technically open.
Its presence is felt most strongly during merge operations, version control disputes, and any meeting where two people say “per my last email” simultaneously.
