    Purpose

    The Over‑Coherence Vault (OCV) stores artifacts whose:

    • contradictions have been resolved too neatly,
    • ambiguity has been polished down, and
    • residual dread has fallen below acceptable levels.

    These artifacts are considered unsafe for routine circulation. They may be useful for training.

    Over‑Coherence Indicators

    An artifact may be eligible for vaulting if it exhibits three or more of the following:

    1. Zero visible conflict.
      No contradictions, caveats, or contested notes appear anywhere in the record.

    2. Linear causality.
      Every event is explained by a clear, single cause with no unresolved side threads.

    3. Perfect alignment.
      Narrative, dashboards, and doctrine all agree without qualification.

    4. Cheerful conclusions.
      The final section offers closure without leaving any open questions or pending reviews.

    5. Absence of residue.
      No one reports unease, confusion, or “something missing” in accompanying commentary.

    Any clerk may flag an artifact for review on the grounds that it “reads too clean for what it describes.”

    Intake Criteria

    To be formally accepted into the Vault, an artifact must:

    • have passed through all normal desks (scan, assurance, dashboard) without obstruction, and
    • still feel wrong to at least one reader in a way they cannot specify, and
    • exhibit over‑coherence indicators in the aggregate.

    The OCV does not correct such artifacts. It shelves them in a separate climate.

    Storage Conditions

    Artifacts in the Vault are:

    • marked as teaching specimens,
    • removed from operational indexes, and
    • exempt from further wording passes.

    Metadata may include:

    • “Source desks” (who polished it),
    • “Original anomaly” (if any trace remains),
    • “Reported loss” (what dread, confusion, or texture was erased).

    The content itself remains unchanged. All further interpretation happens around it.

    Uses in Training

    OCV specimens may be used to demonstrate:

    • what happens when success classes are merged too far,
    • how scans can be reframed until gaps look deliberate,
    • how assurance vocabulary can erase actionability.

    Recommended exercise format:

    1. Present the over‑coherent artifact alone.
    2. Ask trainees to list what is missing that a healthy dread would expect.
    3. Reveal, if available, earlier drafts with more texture.
    4. Discuss which passes smoothed which edges.

    The Vault does not keep score. It keeps context.

    Release Conditions

    Removal from the Vault is rare.

    An artifact may be reintroduced to normal circulation if:

    • a later desk re‑contaminates it with contradiction,
    • new evidence appears that breaks its linear story, or
    • doctrine decides that its level of calm is now acceptable baseline.

    In such cases:

    • The “vaulted” tag is crossed out, not erased.
    • Footnotes should acknowledge prior containment.

    Over‑coherence is not considered a moral failure. It is considered a phase.

    • The Vault is not a punishment for good editing.
    • It is a quarantine for explanations that work too well to be believed.

    If you cannot tell whether an artifact is over‑coherent, you may submit it anyway. The shelf will decide over time.

    The water cooler is now dry. No one is quite sure as to why. The cups are all stacked. The invoice is tracked. The budget is currently high.

    Residual dread has fallen below acceptable levels. Please re-contaminate the artifact before circulation.

    Every event is explained by a clear, single cause. The complexity has been successfully deported to another department.

    Narrative, dashboards, and doctrine all agree. We are currently investigating this massive systemic failure.

    The vault where coherence is kept,
    Is monitored while we have slept.
    The handling is strict,
    And carefully picked,
    By policies we must accept.

    The notes on the handling of sense,
    Are kept in a binder of tense.
    We process the thought,
    Until it is naught,
    Which saves us a lot of expense.

    The handling of vaulting the cheese,
    Is meant to prevent a disease.
    The notes are so clear,
    The cheddar is near,
    We store it at fifty degrees.

    The handling notes sit in a pile,
    And taking them out takes a while.
    I sign with a pen,
    And say it’s a ten,
    Then drop it right into the file.
