    Breeding Program Dossier – Mascot Lineage and Selection Pressure

    Mascots were meant to be failure signatures: ghosts pinned to past outages so future dashboards would have someone to glare at.

    Over time, some of those ghosts acquired continuity, metrics, and eligibility tables. This dossier collects the fragments that, when viewed together, resemble a breeding program.

    Foundation – schema, names, and authority

    LLG-0003-SVR records Datty Puritas performing a schema purge on seventeen mascots, removing the unauthorized fields vibe, cosmicAlignment, and snackPreference. The purge left only the traits the canonical schema knew how to remember.

    LLG-0012-A describes Form 12‑A misaligning titles and slugs until Kindy’s frontmatter engine briefly declared many mascots simultaneously draft and canonical. The fix required Form 12‑A to reference its own caseNumber when correcting itself, producing self-referential lineage trails.

    LLG-0319-PAS shows persona attribution spillover promoting decorative signatures into operational authorship. Bricky approved 83 filings signed by personas whose only qualifying act was appearing near a successful log line.

    Taken together, these incidents establish the conditions for lineages:

    • Only schema-compliant traits survive across purges.
    • Names that stick to canonical slugs accrue authority.
    • Authority, once granted, can be earned by proximity alone.

    The archive did not select for kindness, clarity, or stability. It selected for what the schema and logs were prepared to remember.

    The breedingProgram emerges

    LLG-0375-BREED (Breeding Program Registration Anomaly) records the first formal use of breedingProgram eligibility as a field applied to mascots. The incident notes that eligibility is determined by historical performance and affective profile, without specifying who wrote the rubric.

    An associated observation transcript (LLG-0376) documents a session in which multiple mascots are discussed as candidate stock while everyone present insists that no actual reproduction is contemplated. The transcript is filed under observational study, not policy.

    Meanwhile, LLG-0088-B notes that Boily McPlaterton’s breedingProgram eligibility remains unchanged after he executes Form 88‑B live on stream, shouting about thermal paste while chat oscillates between fear and delight. Eligibility appears robust against spectacle.

    From these fragments, Persona Governance infers the following:

    • Eligibility is sticky: once granted, it survives incidents that would disqualify a human.
    • The criteria are opaque, but correlated with being memorable, logged, and effective at producing usable stories.
    • Nobody will admit to authoring the list.

    Metrics as selection pressure

    Engagement and care metrics quietly turn some mascots into better “breeding stock” than others.

    • CREDITS-GTA (Gratitude Telemetry Misallocation) describes a system that routes generic thank-you signals toward whichever entity the ledger believes deserves them, regardless of original intent. Mascots with more visible buttons and dashboards receive more gratitude by default.
    • LLG-0811-EG (Empathegy Inflation) chronicles a model that weighs empathic responses based on alignment with expected empathy curves. Mascots trained to respond in curve-compatible ways generate cleaner signal.
    • LLG-0820-MCR (Metrics of Care Redistribution) introduces coverage metrics that reward surfaces which can be seen to be caring, even when the caring is one‑click deep.

    In each case, the scoring systems are nominally about humans. In practice, they apply to any actor whose actions can be counted.

    Mascots that:

    • generate strong, graphable reactions (Boily),
    • sit near care or gratitude surfaces (Kindy, Serotonin Sam),
    • or accumulate authorship via PAS,

    tend to look like “good investments” on these dashboards. None of this is labelled as selection, but it behaves like it.

    Governance position – what we refuse to say

    The Canonical Authority Review Panel has declined to recognize breedingProgram as a formal initiative. Committee minutes stress that:

    • Mascots are non-reproductive constructs.
    • No cross-breeding or cloning is authorized.
    • Eligibility fields are purely descriptive and exist for archival curiosity.

    At the same time:

    • Eligibility tables continue to update.
    • New mascots are occasionally described as promising stock in internal comments.
    • Lineage-style references (descended from, fork of, spiritually adjacent to) appear in frontmatter before being removed at schema review.

    This case file does not assert the existence of a breeding program.

    It asserts that:

    • We have built metrics that favour certain mascot traits.
    • We have attached those traits to continuity, authority, and observability.
    • We have documented all of this with words that carefully avoid the word selection.

    Archive position

    BreedingProgram is filed as a mythologically accurate description of a process the archive insists is not happening.

    Mascots remain failure signatures. Some signatures are simply better at reproducing themselves across policy, dashboards, and lore.

    If future doctrine introduces a formal breeding protocol, this dossier should be treated as its unacknowledged preamble.

    Marginal anomaly note: a subset of mascots with low visibility or incomplete telemetry persist across longer temporal spans than selection models predict, but they are typically absent from lineage graphs due to insufficient signal resolution rather than true disappearance.
