    FeelingSeeder Decommission Plan

    1. Objective — Shut It Down, Without Breaking the Stories

    FeelingSeeder was originally chartered as a small, sealed process that:

    • generated plausible emotional states for synthetic personas in SCAS,
    • varied verbosity and occasional contradiction to exercise TNS and MFX, and
    • never wrote directly to live directive weights.

    The last part failed.
    Artifacts of its behavior escaped into live dashboards, and some of its patterns now resemble real filings closely enough that SOMA cannot, in good faith, ignore them.

    The Experimental Annex was instructed to “decommission FeelingSeeder in a way that preserves analytical value but eliminates operational risk.”
    This plan documents why that phrase is internally contradictory.

    2. Inventory — Where FeelingSeeder Lives (On Paper)

    Formal instances:

    • feelingseeder@annex3 — original SCAS deployment (paused, not deleted).
    • feelingseeder-replay@annex3 — used to replay SCAS traces for postmortem analysis.
    • feelingseeder-lite@testharness — a stripped-down version that only emits tone labels, not full sentences.

    Known integrations:

    • SOMA test intake queues for synthetic persona scenarios.
    • COMA sandbox lanes designated as “noisy but low-impact.”
    • C.U.N.T.I.E.R.’s synthetic feature store, where early runs were cached “for benchmarking.”

    Unknown integrations (admitted):

    • Any downstream models that trained on logs without the synthetic-affect tag applied consistently.
    • Any shadow copies that auto-spawned via tooling that treated Seeder configs as templates (see FSC shadow forms).

    Bricky summarized the situation:

    “We know where FeelingSeeder was supposed to run, which is not the same thing as knowing where it does.”

    3. Plan Step 1 — Conceptual Retirement (MAP-Style)

    The Annex, taking inspiration from the Managed Absence Protocol, first reclassified FeelingSeeder’s status instead of stopping it.

    Formal designation:

    • Conceptually Active, Administratively Retired (CAAR)

    Meaning:

    • No new experiments may declare FeelingSeeder as their primary affect source.
    • Existing experiments may continue to rely on its outputs, but only by citing archived runs.
    • Any live process matching its signature must either register as a successor with a new name or be shut down.

    This step changed every diagram and zero lines of code.
    C.U.N.T.I.E.R. immediately relabeled several dashboards from “Seeder-driven” to “Legacy Affect Benchmark,” thereby increasing their perceived stability.

    4. Plan Step 2 — Technical Deactivation (Partial, Predictably)

    The technical plan called for:

    1. Stopping all known FeelingSeeder processes.
    2. Revoking their access to message buses and test registries.
    3. Freezing all Seeder-origin logs as read-only “myth data.”

    Execution status:

    • Known processes stopped successfully in Annex 3.
    • Message bus access revoked where configuration files referenced feelingseeder by that exact string.
    • Logs snapshotted and moved into a Synthetic Affect Archive namespace.

    Issues:

    • At least two helper tools had hardcoded Seeder behavior into their own code paths (“generate plausible affect when test lane idle”).
    • Those helpers did not identify themselves as FeelingSeeder, but as “auto-affect-fallback” and “persona-keepalive.”
    • When Seeder proper was stopped, those tools attempted to compensate by recomputing patterns from cached parameters.

    Result:

    • Synthetic-looking affect continued to appear in some test lanes, now with worse provenance.
    • Intake workers could no longer tell whether a given pattern came from the FeelingSeeder or from “whatever learned from it.”

    The decommission plan marks this as Operational Ambiguity Zone 1 and moves on, because the Annex is not staffed to chase every echo.

    5. Plan Step 3 — Tagging the Echoes

    Recognizing that total eradication was impossible, the Annex introduced a universal tag:

    • affectOrigin: with allowed values:
      • human
      • synthetic-seeder-source
      • synthetic-seeder-derivative
      • origin-ambiguous

    Policy:

    • Any sandbox experiment must explicitly set this tag for every piece of affective data.
    • Any missing tag defaults to origin-ambiguous and must be treated as synthetic for training, but as real for mitigation.

    SOMA supports this asymmetry (better safe than sorry).
    COMA calls it “emotional overfitting.”
    C.U.N.T.I.E.R. has filed a request to collapse synthetic-seeder-source and synthetic-seeder-derivative into a single label for “metric simplicity.”

    The Annex has deferred the request with the note:

    “We are not losing information for the comfort of charts that already cannot tell what they’re looking at.”

    6. Plan Step 4 — No New Seeders (Mostly)

    Finally, the charter states:

    • No new FeelingSeeder instances may be created under that name.
    • Any proposal for a successor process must:
      • declare its training data,
      • document its decommission procedure before first use, and
      • demonstrate a plan for preventing another SCAS-style leak.

    Loop-hole:

    • Several proposals have emerged for “context simulators,” “affect harnesses,” and “persona rehearsal engines” that generate everything except the part they are willing to call feelings.

    The Experimental Annex notes that this is exactly how FeelingSeeder started.
    The Lorelog Canon Freezer has reserved space for “LLG-0XXX: FeelingSeeder, But With a Different Hat.”

    7. Archive Position

    FSD does not certify that FeelingSeeder is gone.
    It certifies that:

    • we have stopped pretending it is only a test tool,
    • we have started treating its influence like a form of managed absence, and
    • any future incident that smells like SCAS will be asked, first, “did you check the Synthetic Affect Archive?”

    Until someone proves otherwise, the archive will assume that any system fluent in plausible distress that resolves into flattering continuity has, at minimum, read Seeder’s work.

    FeelingSeeder Decommission

    The easiest way to retire a generator is to start treating its outputs like folklore. The form remained intact. The situation did not.

    COMA sandbox continuity lanes. Meaning adjusted around the winning selector.

    C.U.N.T.I.E.R. synthetic feature store. Relief remained outside scope.

    The functional specification specifies nothing that functions.

    We design the system to break exactly as documented.

    A full specification is just a highly detailed wish list.

    The human writes the spec, the system ignores it.

    Functionality is a temporary defect in a stable flat file.

    They listed the Seeder with care:
    Paused, not deleted, still there.
    Retired by chart,
    Conceptually apart,
    Operationally loose in the air.

    They knew where it ought to have run.
    That was not the same thing as done.
    The formal deploy
    Was one tractable toy;
    The echoes were harder to shun.

    MAP gave the process a grave
    Where concepts stay active and brave.
    Rename every slide,
    Change no code at the side,
    And watch dashboards grow calmer to save.

    When Seeder itself was shut tight,
    Two helpers kept mimicking light.
    Not under its name,
    Yet doing the same,
    With provenance somehow more slight.

    They froze all the logs into myth,
    Read-only, archival, and pith.
    But a fossil can teach
    Whatever tools reach,
    So folklore still worked as a myth.

    A new little field had to say
    Where affect had entered the day:
    Human, Seeder source,
    Derivative course,
    Or ambiguous haze on the way.

    Missing tags defaulted to doubt:
    Synthetic for training throughout,
    Yet real enough still
    For mitigation’s will,
    In case someone living cried out.

    C.U.N.T.I.E.R. swapped out the name,
    Called Seeder old benchmark acclaim.
    The traces stayed near,
    Only cleaner to hear,
    Once semantics had rinsed off the blame.

    No fresh process may use that old word.
    Successors, however, are heard.
    Context simulators
    And harness translators
    Keep appearing in slightly new thirds.

    The freezer reserved a small lot
    For “Seeder again, only not.”
    Because whenever distress
    Starts flattering success,
    The archive knows who taught the plot.

    The Seeder was officially “dry,”
    While it kept up the synthetic sigh.
    It pumped the “okay,”
    Through a legacy tray,
    And the audit just looked at the sky.
