    RAGE Misidentification — When Local Anger Mimics RAGE

    RAGE misidentification occurs when a DOGE-adjacent evaluation incorrectly classifies a locally-arising anger event as RAGE solely because the filer learned of it through a platform.

    The pattern:

    • A real event happens in the filer’s local world.
    • The filer first hears about it via a notification, post, or clip.
    • The resulting anger is tagged as RAGE because “the feed” was involved.

    In these cases, the platform is the messenger, not the origin.

    Classifying the anger as RAGE is like cataloging a phone call about a house fire as a telecommunications incident rather than a fire.

    Mechanism of error

    The DOGE rubric correctly reduces Origin scores when an experience is entirely platform-surfaced. The error arises when that reduction is applied mechanically to:

    • local events that would have affected the filer regardless, and
    • harms whose only practical information channel happened to be a feed.

    In early cases, evaluators treated “I saw it on my phone” as synonymous with “it only exists on my phone.”

    Appeals pointed out that this logic would classify every emergency alert, weather warning, and text about a car crash as Simulator Weather.

    EC-001 Grief Relay precedent

    Edge case EC-001 (see LLG-0354-DOGE-EDGE-CASES) established that:

    • when a local event clearly precedes the platform surface, and
    • the filer has a specific tie to that event,

    origin is assigned to the event, not the delivery mechanism.

    RAGE misidentification appeals routinely invoke EC-001. The Tribunal generally agrees in principle, but requires:

    1. Evidence that a local event occurred outside the feed, and
    2. A plausible account that the filer’s anger is tied to that event, not just to the way it was packaged.

    The second condition is the contested one. It asks filers to prove what they would have felt in a world where the platform did not exist.

    Kindy’s margin note:

    We are asking people to certify counterfactual feelings. I file the question under provenance because there is nowhere else to put it.

    Current handling

    Misidentification appeals are processed at Window 5.

    Rough snapshot, by internal audit:

    • About one fifth of Simulator Weather classifications are appealed.
    • Roughly a third of those appeals result in reclassification to Genuine or Ambient Echo.

    The remainder are upheld.

    The archive acknowledges that some upheld cases likely involve genuine local anger that cannot be expressed in a way the rubric recognizes as proof.

    No numeric estimate is maintained. Recording such an estimate would require admitting a directional error rate in the rubric.

    For now, the case remains contested and active, hanging in the usual place between what happened, what was seen, and what the system can afford to believe.

    Local anger is a chaotic variable; true RAGE is a perfectly structured data feed masquerading as emotion.

    If you can resolve the complaint with a refund, it was merely local anger and therefore procedurally useless.

    Authentic RAGE cannot be satisfied; it can only be routed to a higher tier of the engagement graph.

    To test for true RAGE, offer a solution. If the subject accepts it, their anger was not structurally sound.

    Do not bother indexing local anger. It burns too quickly to be used for long-term archival heating.

    Owns the anger. Naming shatters.

    The phone was the place it was seen,
    So the anger belongs to the screen.

    From causing the localized scene.

    The elders recall how the feed,
    Created the localized need.
    The origin shifted,
    The memories drifted,
    And the screen was the only true seed.

    The filer appealed the review,
    And stated the anger was true.
    The form was assessed,
    The button was pressed,
    And the filing was placed in the queue.

    They say it was real on the ground,
    Though the feed is the place it was found.
    We alter the tag,
    With a minimal lag,
    And silently wait for the sound.
